How useful are the Current Event Books

Current Event Books

People say that “A book is an ocean of Knowledge”. Reading enthusiasts have contributed largely in distinguishing one genre of books from another. Primarily books are classified into fiction and non-fiction. Then there are various genres like classics, current event books, Management books, History etc. which emanate from the above classification. Further down the hierarchy more specific genres are believed to exist like Books on Politics, Autobiographies, Biographies, epics etc. The focus of this article is on Politic Books.

Books becoming your friend

Politic Books have been written on many subordinate topics in the field of politics. Many of the sub-topics are on the cusps of two fields of study. The mixture of philosophy and politics gives you political philosophy. The mixture of politics and science gives you the field of political science. The mixture of economics and politics gives you the field of political economics. Moreover the mixture of administration and political science gives you public administration. Hence there is no dearth in availability of topics to write books on politics. You can find many books off the book-rack of major libraries and book stories on the topic of Politics.

Shifting the focus slightly on competitive exams in India like IITJEE, IAS, IIM CAT; a lot of IAS aspirants select public administration (Politics Books) as one of their subjects. More than it being a popular choice to score easy marks because of the less complex nature of the subject as compared to other subjects; the subject is a pool of resource for aspirants who want to apply the learning from the subject once they qualify to become a bureaucrat.

Other Books on Politics include Fareed Zakaria’s ‘The Post American World’, India’s Politics by Bimal Jalan etc. Fareed Zakaria’s new book is in the market whose title is ‘The Post American World: And the Rise of the Rest’. Bimal Jalan’s book ‘The Black economy’ was a treatise on the black economy of India. These are some of the examples of writers of Books on Politics.

As we know India is a democratic country. They also say that the amount of politics practiced in a democratic country is far more than a non-democratic country like China. Many authors of Politic Books have critiqued this fact. Lately, a new field called geopolitical economics is on the rise and the leading author on this topic is the New York Times Columnist Thomas L.Friedman.
